  so, yes, there will be a "new bible" released at this annual meeting.

  worst kept secret ever.. however, the new bible will no longer be called the "new world translation".

  again, this is pure speculation, but it would kind of make sense since the term "new world" is very mason-y, old-time jw-y, and doesn't appear in the bible anyway.. what they would call it, i couldn't even guess..

  Oh no! They can't possibly be replacing the most accurate and honest bible translation in the world!

  When this supposed new bible comes out and is also rejected by any and all bible scholars as a legitimate translation like the current NWT, we will have even more ammo to fight with! So I say bring it on

  hello, what is the biblical proof of that a creative days is 7000 years.

  i read in the photodrama that russell says that a creative days is 7000 years.

  and in 1965 edition of "make sure of all things" page 134 that was changed from "7000 years" to "about 7000 years".. the bible not says the duration of a creative day.

  Yeah the current belief is that "the earth is very old," but they won't commit to the 4.65 billion year old fact.

  Maybe they clued in to the fact that every 7-9 year old boy is obsessed with dinosaurs, which of course died off more than 40something thousand years ago

  what major wtbts change(s) do you predict for 2014 to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of the wtbts's 1914 prediction?.

  after posting to what's in it for them?

  (gb), i started to think what major change(s) could the wtbts make to thin the flock and cleanse the congregations of social jws who do not donate or go to meetings.. my premise is that the wtbts is a business, a dangerous cult, and that its printing operations are losing money.

  Hmm.. A tithing would weed out apostates in a hurry! Donating to the Pedophile Defense Fund is usually the first thing to go, tearing up the blood card being the second.

  Refuse to pay? Apostate. Easy.

  Personally I like the idea of them dropping the 144000 number as literal. That way the whole thing can be figurative, and they can interpret the chapter as they please To make it still all tie together. Plus it is a big embarrassment to them IMO.

  i was raised a jw and as a kid my family made brief mention of apostates in bethel that falsely prophecied about 1975 and were kicked out of bethel.

  i was shocked after i got out and learned that him being removed had absolutely nothing to do with 1975. i think that partial lie spread is what kept my relatives in.

  1975 a big let down/false prophecy, then they are told that a governing body member and many in bethel are found apostate and cleaned out, etc.

  i really don't think they get it.. they have their blinders on and just won't think about anything that could possibly make them question anything.. they are like stepford families and robots.

  they do as they're told while they have that dense look on their faces.. ok, that's my vent for the moment.. .

  recently on a saturday morning there was a knock on my door.

  two ladies asked me if i was familiar with the jws.

  i said: yes unfortunatley.

  Two years ago I was on a rare trip out in service with a buddy and I had a "nice call" with a young woman who had recently begun attending a nearby church. She said she loved the congregation but she still had some questions. Of course I was happy to hear them! She said, "what does it mean to get saved, and how do you do it?"

  I bumbled and fumbled through a sheepish explanation that we do our best to follow gods (GB's) principles, and maybe he will save us. She then showed me the scripture in her own bible about grace... Not undeserved kindness.. Puzzled, I placed a bible teach book with her and left. That night I began researching in an interlinear.. I began challenging the NWT... Within a week my cog dis was so bad I couldnt stand the meetings, within 3 months I didn't believe in the WT and within 6 months of that I was an Atheist! My last time out in service was in March 2012 and even then I didn't get out of the truck, just drove The group.

  So simple... So easy. Just a simple question that is easily refuted by the bible itself in a more honest translation. If I knew where that girl was now I'd thank her for setting me free.

  By the way, awesome thread! Might be a good source of material for when we get called on or for other conversations with JWs.

  because 1914 wasn't the beginning or ending of anything (see jwfacts for overwhelming evidence);.

  1. witnesses are still in "gentile times".

  Unfortunately, many witlesses just doze through the studies, not really grasping what is being talked about.. Especially in the most important studies. If 1914 were to change, many would shrug and say, "so? It's still The Truth!"

  My wife is one of these. Absolutely no grasp of what 1914 means, or anything else. Just listen, obey and be blessed.
